Soloists from the Orchestra will be showcased playing Edward Elgars’ Romance for Bassoon, Victor Herbert’s Serenade for Cello, Michael Conway Baker’s Vancouver Variations, Gabriel Faure’s Sicilienne, George Gershwin’s Embraceable You and Borodin’s Nocturne, for violin and orchestra by Rimsky-Korsakov.

This concert is a tribute to the great ladies of song Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney and Sarah Vaughan starring vocalist Barbara Blair, jazz pianist Karel Roessingh and guitarist Joey Smith. The arrangers include Robert Farnon, Nelson Riddle and Paul Weston and scores from the BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra, the BBC Northern Dance Band and the Paul Whiteman Orchestra

This concert presents Sidney tenor Sunny Shams and Vancouver soprano Shadan Saul Guerrero in a concert of operetta, opera and drawing room ballads. The orchestra presents a typical palm court concert with a selection of waltzes, intermezzos and marches plus music by Jerome Kern and Cole Porter.
